Do you visibly see mold spores? If you see dark fuzzy spots growing on porous surfaces you could be looking at visible mold growth. 

Do you notice a musty or damp smell? Some mold species cause noticeable odors. If you detect an uncommon odor it could be because of a mold issue.

Did you experience a water leak in your home? Places in your home with elevated moisture are more prone to growing mold. If you have had a past leak examine those areas carefully. You may even need a leak detection specialist.
